This credential is designed to document the knowledge and skills of a Dental Administrative Assistant.
AUDIENCE
This credential is appropriate for Dental Administrative Assistants and front office staff working in a dental setting.
JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
The certification will test the front office knowledge of the administrative assistant and cover dental ethics and law, patient records and privacy, communication and practice management, and assisting in emergency care. Credentials for Dental Administrative Assistants demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the management of the dental office and the interaction with patients and patient records.
DENTAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT WORKPLACE TASKS:
Use professional written and verbal communication with patients, dental personnel, 3rd party payers, and vendors and suppliers
Follow the ethical and legal principles that guide the practice of dentistry
Compile and record medical charts, reports, or correspondence
Handle patient files, including adding information as needed
Follow HIPPA requirements to ensure privacy of patient information
Manage daily activities of a practice, including filing dental insurance claims, and practice management
Monitor inventory stock and handle re-ordering and re-stocking
Assist in emergency care situations
