The US Legal System

This course addresses the legal and ethical issues healthcare professionals face every day on the job. with an overview of the laws and professional requirements that regulate the delivery of health care, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Patient's Bill of Rights, and standard of care, this course also presents information on ethical and moral issues that health care professionals may encounter day to day. Specifically, this badge demonstrates the earner's ability to explain components of the U.S. legal system including types of law and their impact on healthcare, intentional and unintentional torts, the organization of the local, state, and federal legislative bodies, main regulations on healthcare, and concepts of law such as statute of limitations, the Good Samaritan Laws, and respondeat superior.
