PURPOSE
The Art History I credential is designed to document the essential competencies needed to work in fields involving art history such as art education, drama, art therapy, tourism, museum conservation, and graphic design.

The Art History I credential is appropriate for artists and professionals who require knowledge of fine arts, history, archaeology, philosophy, and theology. Art history professionals include art educators, researchers, librarians, curators, archivists, museum technicians and conservators, multimedia artists and animators, graphic designers, and set and exhibit designers.
JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
Credentials in Art History emphasize competencies including knowledge of world art, fine and applied art, and the historical events and people that influenced and created historical art. Though many positions in art history require appropriate education at various levels and additional training, a fundamental understanding of art history provides foundational knowledge that supports many aspects of daily tasks and decision-making for artists, teachers, art therapists, tour guides, librarians, curators, designers, and researchers.
ART HISTORY WORKPLACE TASKS:
- Conduct research in areas of art history.
- Teach courses in art history, fine and applied art, philosophy, or theology.
- Create commercial and industrial designs for theaters, museums, and other exhibitions.
