Art Appreciation credentials document competencies including knowledge of world art, fine and applied art, painting, sculpture, design, and crafts. Though many positions in art appreciation require appropriate education at various levels and additional training, a fundamental understanding of art provides foundational knowledge that supports many aspects of daily of tasks and decision-making for artists, teachers, librarians, curators, musicians, designers, and researchers. Specifically, this badge demonstrates the earner's ability to explain the role of color and light in art, including the rules of atmospheric and aerial perspective, the contributions Sir Isaac Newton made to color, a complementary color scheme, and how local color differs from perceptual color.
