PURPOSE
The Real Estate Law credential documents the essential competencies involved in the listing, financing, sale, and closing process for the sale and transfer of real property.
AUDIENCE
This credential is appropriate for anyone currently practicing or entering the real estate profession including agents, title specialists, or paralegals supporting real estate closing activities.
JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
These credentials document competencies including listing agreements, titles, contracts of sale, mortgages, deeds, the closing process and special issues such as foreclosure, landlord-tenant law, and dispute resolution.
REAL ESTATE LAW WORKPLACE TASKS:
Interview clients to determine needs, interests, and budget.
Facilitate negotiations between buyers and sellers.
Advise clients on market conditions, prices, mortgages, legal requirements, contingencies, and related matters.
Promote sales of properties through advertisements, open houses, and participation in multiple listing services.
Prepare documents such as listing contracts, purchase agreements, closing statements, deeds, and leases.
Work with lenders, escrow companies, title agents, home inspectors, and others to ensure that terms and conditions of purchase agreements are met before closing dates.
Coordinate property closings, overseeing signing of documents and disbursement of funds.
