The Anatomy & Physiology Essentials credential documents the essential competencies for application of basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of each of the body’s systems. Anatomy and Physiology Essentials badge denotes a baseline understanding of the integumentary, musculoskeletal, nervous, and endocrine systems.
AUDIENCE
This credential is appropriate for a variety of healthcare and biology workers who must apply their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to their daily tasks. These professionals include allied health professionals, biologists and biology technicians, physical education professionals, health and fitness professionals, nutrition professionals, athletic trainers, coaches, and secondary and post-secondary teachers in health and biology fields.
JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
Professionals who require knowledge in anatomy and physiology work in a variety of fields each of which has different educational, certification, and licensing requirements. Allied health professionals typically require a diploma or two-year degree or higher in their area of study. Scientists and researchers require minimum of a bachelor’s degree and typically have a graduate degree in a specific study area. All professionals working in this area require communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow directions and comply with standards. They often work with patients or clients requiring customer service and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to teach complicated information.
