PURPOSE
The Art Appreciation Externship badge documents the acquistion of practical experience in an art-centered setting working with world art, fine and applied art, painting, sculpture, design, and crafts.
AUDIENCE
The Art Appreciation credential is appropriate for artists and professionals who require knowledge of fine arts, history, archaeology, philosophy, and theology. Art appreciation professionals include art educators and trainers, researchers, librarians, curators, archivists, musicians, singers, choreographers, commercial and industrial designers, fashion designers, film and video editors, floral designers, and set and exhibit designers.
JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
Though many positions in art appreciation require appropriate education at various levels and additional training, a fundamental understanding of art provides foundational knowledge that supports many aspects of daily of tasks and decision-making for artists, teachers, librarians, curators, musicians, designers, and researchers.

The Externship badge confirms the earner's continued and successful practice of the following tasks demonstrating their ability to:
- Conduct research in areas of fine and applied art.
- Teach courses in drama, music, and fine and applied art, including painting, sculpture, design, and crafts.
- Develop art through sculpture, paint, drawing, crafts, music, drama, choreography, or other techniques and methods.
- Create commercial and industrial designs for theaters, museums, and other exhibitions.
- Assist with the curation of art collections and art knowledge and information.
- Develop instructional art materials and art curriculum for courses.
- Design or assist in the design of clothing and merchandise.
- Participate in video and film editing projects.
- Apply elements and principle of floral design.
