PURPOSE
This credential documents the essential competencies required web page developers working in multiple types of technical, business, and healthcare settings. Web developers serve in roles with job titles of web site developers, web application developers, web designers, and web masters. The purpose of this program is to prepare students to design and develop websites, design and develop basic web applications so that users can perform specific tasks, and maintain websites so they can continue to meet user needs. Basic concepts include web coding in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
AUDIENCE
This credential is appropriate for beginning web developers who have a fundamental understanding of the Internet and use of computers and who desire to achieve entry-level web developer positions.
JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
The front-end web developer typically must have a high school diploma or the equivalent and understand basic principles that are fundamental using the Internet and developing static and dynamic web pages. In addition to knowledge and skills in each Internet and web development, they must have excellent communication skills and be able to listen to and effectively communicate with the website owners or clients.
