JOB/CAREER REQUIREMENTS
The building trades worker typically must have a high school diploma or the equivalent and understand the general safety practices and equipment, the use and care of hand tools and power tools, the selection and use of common fasteners and adhesives/sealants, construction-related math and measuring skills, basic rigging and related rigging-safety practices, and reading of construction drawings and plans. Additionally, building trades workers must have excellent communication skills and be able to listen to, receive feedback from, and effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers. They must also understand and comply with the numerous state and federal laws and codes that govern the industry.
